Happy June! I’m so excited to share the latest at 818 Ministries with you – especially after last weekend.
This past weekend our Impact Squad visited St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. I went along with two other volunteers, Taryn Smith (dressed up as Anna) and Jill Schrock (Jill was a big help with our craft time!). We set up in the newly renovated Chili’s Care Center in the middle of campus. Families and patients stopped by and visited with the princesses and took pictures, we helped them find the PERFECT hat for their head/personality and then Jill helped them make a foam door hanger craft that they got to personalize for their room!
As always it was a special time visiting with families and our hearts were stolen by so many of the kids and the tough diagnoses they are facing. It was such a blessing to have such a wide variety of hats for the kids to choose from. We couldn’t have pulled off the visit without so many of you volunteers who choose to steward your time and talent in a way that will encourage others and glorify God.
I think we’re all looking forward to our next visit with St. Jude and already have ideas on how we can make the next trip even better and more impactful for the kids!
I’m thrilled to be able to announce that we also hit a huge milestone this past weekend. We were able to donate 121 hats to St. Jude (some of the Anna and Elsa hats we took are pictured at the bottom of this post) which totaled over ONE THOUSAND DONATED HATS since we launched 818 Ministries on February 4, 2015. I am incredibly thankful for each one of you who are so giving of your time and creativity to support 818 Ministries and our mission to encourage patients facing serious illnesses. The Lord is using you in ways we may not even fully grasp (Ephesians 3:20)! Our St. Jude visit put us at 419 hat + letter packets for 2017 as well. I’m so grateful for an amazing start to what I believe will be our best year yet at 818 Ministries!
