We had the opportunity this past weekend to visit Shriners Hospital for Children in Shreveport, Louisiana with the Impact Squad! This is the original flagship location for Shriners where all their cleft palette + ortho surgeries are done. It was such a special time visiting patients who are receiving treatment there. Because of the way this hospital operates, most patients are from a country in South America who've came to Shreveport for treatment. The majority of the patients we met we re Spanish speaking and they were thrilled to have new friends to hang out with. We made crafts and gave away a hat to each patient as they left. We look forward to returning to Shriners soon!
One of my FAVORITE projects of the year is upon us! Each year 818 Ministries decks out all of the sweet, tiny warriors at UT Medical Center with cocoons like the one you see pictured above. Pinterest is full of ideas for creative patterns for these guys and they are such a fun treat for the families on, what is often, a not-so-fun day!
Click here to view a WBIR article from last year about the project!
We will be collecting hat + cocoon sets until Friday, October 4th to be delivered to them for Halloween! Please ship any donations to:
PO Box 1403
Brookhaven, MS 39602
Also, please stay tuned for a potential Christmas-themed cocoon project that is in the works! We won't have a ton of lead time on this one so keep your ears peeled for further details and a deadline for donations.
Thanks so much for all you do to impact the lives of patients fighting serious illnesses! We couldn't be more grateful for you!
Cheering for you,
Rebecca Dotson George
