Rewind. Pause. Play. by Brandi Ladd
Let’s rewind almost 6 months ago. If we were to push pause on my life you would see someone who was worried about her future, someone questioning where the Lord was leading her and someone experiencing a lot of anxiety because of those circumstances.
I wish I could say now those circumstances are a thing of the past! However, those questions and feelings are actually multiplied. The past few months have been overwhelming to say the least, and I’m kind of at a standstill. I am thankful that we serve a God who is working behind the scenes, even when we may not know the why’s and the how’s of our circumstances. We live in a world that wants to see the big picture and know every detail of our future.
Thankfully, God gives us all that we need to take each step of faith, trusting Him with the rest. The Lord is using this time in my life to help me realize my complete dependence and trust in Him and His timing. As I call out to God, He will give my heart strength to endure and persevere.
[From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.] Psalm 61:2
Something that I have to remember also is that God cares for me. That statement alone should stir up overwhelming joy and gratitude.
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
[Care is the provision of what is necessary for the health, welfare, maintenance, and protection of someone or something.]
God cares about every detail of my life. He provides the things that are necessary for each and everything we go through. When I’m not casting my anxiety on to Him, it has nowhere to escape except into my heart and that causes wreckage in every other part of my life. When we keep it to ourselves we hinder our relationship with God. But if we give it to God, He will transform that anxiety into peace and understanding. It will take time. And it’s a daily decision to wake up and say “Ok, God, today I pray you take away the doubt and anxiety when it starts creeping into my thoughts and feelings.”
It’s always encouraging to look back on times in your life and see how God provided a way out, or made a path out of something you would not expect. He makes clear the why’s and how’s of things that we could not see His hand in at the time. It’s those things that give you strength to endure and remember that God has good things in store.
Remember…you are cared for and loved today.
