Hello month FOUR of the 818 Ministries Blog! We are so excited to start a new series called Here I Raise My Ebenezer! This month we will be writing about Ebenezers; reminders of God's promises, both old and new, simple and complex. God's promises and presence can come in many forms and we will talk about examples from the Word, personal examples as well as things that remind us of His presence.
Our first post is by Brandi Ladd about a physical example of God's presence that means a lot to her.
Thank you for continuing in our journey of beginning 818 Ministries this year. We have so many exciting things to come in the next several months. Pray with and for us as we continue to grow and expand our reach!
If you missed out on our launch event or have never heard our "full story", check out the two links below. I hope it is a blessing to you!

One of my favorite worship songs is “Come Thou Fount”. If you are familiar with this song you may recognize the lyric, “Here I raise my Ebenezer.” What does this even mean? An Ebenezer is something that reminds you of God’s presence, of His faithfulness and promises. That can mean different things for different people. God speaks to His people in so many different ways and we all see His presence through a different set of eyes.
If you know anything about me you know that I am a little obsessed with sunsets, sunrises, clouds, flowers and basically anything in nature. There are so many reminders of who God is when I look His creation.
We can see the Lord in the moon and stars. It says in Psalm 8:3-4, “When I consider your heavens the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?” I am reminded of how small I am when compared to His creation but God still knows me by name and calls me His own as it says in Isaiah 43:1.
Have you ever felt invisible? That no one knows what you are going through? Or maybe you just feel forgotten? We have our Heavenly Father that cares for us always and will “never leave or forsake us” (Deuteronomy 31:6).
Every sunrise I am reminded that “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” [Lamentations 3:22-23] Each day the Lord gives me joy and gratitude for a new day filled with new opportunities to give Him glory in all that I do and only by His grace.
In the colors of the rainbow I am reminded of God’s covenant promises. God said, “Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the Earth” [Genesis 9:16]. It is incredible to think that we get to look at the same rainbow, or promise, that Noah did! Our God truly is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
I see God in the change of seasons.
In spring with the newness of life blooming everywhere. In the summer heat and sunshine. In the colors of the fall and the stillness of the winter.
Each season brings something different but they are all beautiful in their own way. In Ecclesiastes 3, “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven…He has made everything beautiful in its time.”
We all are in different seasons of life but there is purpose in each of those and God will reveal that purpose in His perfect timing. God uses His creation to remind us of His promises and to show that He is actively working and present in our everyday lives. No matter where you are right now I am confident that if you look around you will see Ebenezers, or promises, all around you!
