Hey team! I’m excited to share an update about a weekend that combines several of my favorite things: St. Jude, Impact Squad visits and long distance running! Some of you may have followed 818 Ministries last year when I ran the St. Jude Memphis Marathon and our Impact Squad took our first trip to Memphis and visited families inside the hospital. Well, I fell in love and St. Jude stole my heart. The staff is incredible, the work the hospital is doing and the smiles on patient’s faces would take your breath away. AND, it is a place full of JOY and LIFE.
I’m nervous, excited and thrilled to announce that I am running the St. Jude Memphis Marathon again this year on Saturday, December 2nd. Training has begun and is going well. We have several members of the 818 Ministries community that are participating (including Taryn Smith and Kristi Jeffers – running the half and full marathon respectively). This year we are participating as St. Jude Heroes.
What is a St. Jude Hero? Runners are allowed to participate in a program that provides the tools to promote their marathon and training program and raise money for St. Jude! My personal page is below. I would encourage you to pray and see if the Lord would have you contribute to such a special place to 818 Ministries. All funding goes straight to the hospital.
Kristi Jeffers and I will be sharing updates on social media each Saturday as we train, letting you know how long our long runs are on the weekends as we prepare. We’re only 12 full weeks away from December 2nd!
Happy training to those of you who are participating! And if you’d like to join us, visit https://www.stjude.org/get-involved/at-play/fitness-for-st-jude/memphis-marathon.html for more details about the race. See you in Memphis!
