We were so fortunate yesterday to have the opportunity to grab Knoxville native Emily Ann Roberts (finalist on Season 9 of the Voice) for a few hours to visit with patients at East Tennessee Children's Hospital to visit and sing to patients and hand deliver hats. It was such a special day and, you saw it here first! Check out our recap video!
Also, we are planning for the fall and we're so thankful for your continued donations of hats + cocoons + port pillows, etc. for our fall Impact Squad visits. Your talent and creativity mean the world to us. We can't wait to give your beautiful creations away to families and bless them with the time you spent serving them so well.
Thanks for all you do for us, volunteers. I love you with all of my heart!
Cheering for you,
I hope this update finds you well! I wanted to send everyone a quick update on what's going on this summer at 818 Ministries. This spring you guys BLEW US AWAY with your creative ideas and we're amazed at how God used them to impact the lives of patients and families fighting serious illnesses.
Here's a few updates and projects we're looking forward to for the fall!
Hats Donated in 2018
Again, we're blown away at how God continues to grow our base of volunteers - now reaching TEN STATES! So far in 2018, we've hand delivered seven hundred and fourteen hat + letter packets to patients because of your generosity, time and talent! Thank you to each of you for you continued support and time investing in the lives of these families.
Our Impact Squad has dressed up and visited MD Anderson Cancer Center, Palmetto Children's, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Kingsport Hematology and Oncology and UT Medical Center. If you recently started following us, these friends are the vehicle through which God has allowed us to deliver hats to patients. Below are a couple examples of Impact Squad visits we've done this year.
Fall NICIU Cocoon Project
We're excited to go ahead and tell you about a project we're preparing for in October! Last fall, we delivered Cocoon + Letter packets to the precious newborn babies at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UT Medical Center. We're excited to announce we will be accepting donations from now until October (in addition to hats and Port Pillows, as always) for these sweet families. Just as a reminder of what these sweet cocoons look like, check out the news story from last October when we got to deliver them!
Fall Impact Squad Visits
We're working hard this summer to get ready for some more exciting Impact Squad visits this fall - and we need YOUR help! We are, as always, accepting hats (of all sizes, preemie to adult), letters, NICU octopuses, Port Pillows and cocoons! We are still working on setting dates for many of the following locations we are planning to either visit in person or ship hats to before the end of the year. But, this gives you a good idea on where you could be serving this summer/fall!
- East Tennessee Children's Hospital (preemie to child sized hats)
- UT Medical Center (octopuses and cocoons)
- Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (preemie to child sized hats)
- St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (child sized hats)
- MD Anderson Cancer Center (adult sized hats)
- Palmetto Children's Hospital (preemie and child sized hats and NICU octopuses)
We're so excited about all God has in store for the remainder of 2018 for 818 Ministries! We believe He has gone before us and prepared the way for all that is about to unfold. Will you join us?

It was such a great experience to visit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN last weekend for an Impact Squad visit. We took students from the University of Tennessee to dress up like princesses + superheroes to hand deliver hats made by our volunteers. We were able to give away 115 hats!
Also, we had a craft table where we made foam door hangers with patients to hang on their hospital room door and label with their name! We met so many amazing families and we ask that you pray for each of their journeys in the battle against pediatric cancer and other blood disorders.
